ELIZABETH DAVIS

MFA, MS, ATR-BC, LCAT

As an Integrative Therapist, who combines evidenced based approaches and creative expertise, Elizabeth Davis has a passion for innovation in the service of making trauma therapy more tolerable and meaningful.  Her approach is client specific, treating each person she works with as unique and using her diverse training experience and creativity to meet them where they are in their journey.

Elizabeth began her journey in the world of fine art in the 90’s where she worked for a decade as an innovative photographer exploring the psychological dimensions of human experience through images.  She identifies this early artistic exploration as a major influence for her current Integrative and creative approach to therapy.

Elizabeth’s experience as a therapist began over 23 years ago working with at-risk youth in residential placement and in the community with vulnerable families and adults. This foundational experience led Elizabeth to a focus and passion for understanding the effective treatments for complex trauma and attachment insecurity.

Her training and expertise include: EMDR Therapy (Certified, Consultant, and Trainer), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), Progressive Counting (PC), Hypnosis, Attachment Focused Therapy, (she is trained to administer and score the Adult Attachment Interview- AAI), Art Therapy, (Board Certified Art Therapist), Mindfulness, (MBSR), and Play Therapy, (she has over a 100 training hours in play therapy, and was a Board Member of the New York State Play Therapy Association, 2014-2015).

As a trainer for Trauma Institute, Elizabeth has conducted dozens of workshops, presentations and talks, including at the EMDR International Association (Emdria) Conference (2019), and International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD, 2018, 2021).  She is an author (chapter in EMDR with Children in the Play Therapy Room: An Integrated Approach, 2020) and serves on the Child and Adolescent Treatment Task Force for ISSTD.  Currently she serves as Director of the Buffalo NY satellite and as Supervisor of Intake for Trauma Institute.
